The Tulip Story

The Tulip Knife Company was born in 2022 out of a passion for collecting antique pocket knives made in Central New York after the turn of the 19th century. Many of the antique knife patterns produced during that time are no longer made today, and much of the knowledge of how they were made is lost to history.

Our goal is to create superior hand made pocket knives that emulate the characteristics of early American cutlery. Tulip Knives are made with quality materials and are built by hand in Central New York. We source and use materials that would have been familiar to manufacturers of old and build our knives to last generations.

Tulip knives are made to be tools before anything.

Additional Information

Tulip Knife Construction

We strive to use as many materials as possible that are found on early American cutlery. We construct bolsters and liners out of German (Nickel) silver, steel, and brass. Blades and springs are made with 1095 carbon steel although we are interested in implementing more modern, premium blade steels in the future. Handle materials include hand jigged and dyed bone, various exotic hardwoods including ebony and cocobolo, and synthetics such as acrylic and micarta.

Our knives are pinned together by hand, including all shields!
